Cop hit by motorcycle

A city cop is nursing arm injuries after being struck by a motorcycle in Kanata on Tuesday, the Sun has learned.

Numerous sources confirm the off-duty cop was working an overtime shift, directing traffic near a construction site on Eagleson Rd., when the bike went into an area that was cordoned off.

The officer stepped in the way but the driver kept going.

Police pursued the suspect, calling off the chase after the motorcyclist hit 180 km/h.

The bike had Quebec plates.

Paramedics treated the cop for a possible broken arm at 12:50 p.m. before taking him to hospital.

Ottawa police are investigating.
