Ottawa police hunt for alleged Dumaurier Ave. shooter

A 27-year-old west-end man is wanted in connection with nearly two dozen offences, including a shooting in Nepean last month, and city cops are asking for the public’s help to cuff him.

Behzad Behruzi has links to numerous gun offences, a break and enter, and uttering threats, say police.

“I think there’s about 20 charges on him right now,” said Ottawa Police guns and gangs unit Staff Sgt. Mark Patterson, adding “he’s known to our unit.”

Shots were fired into the air during a dispute between two men Aug. 29 around midnight on Dumaurier Ave., near Pinecrest Rd. and Hwy 417.

Behruzi was one of those men, Patterson alleges. He was involved in an altercation with another person and “he fired shots,” said Patterson.

No injuries were reported, though cops did find a shell casing.

Ottawa has seen 19 shootings this year.

This incident was the 17th, and the second on Dumaurier Ave. — four shots were fired on May 3 around 1 a.m.

Behruzi is Middle Eastern with short black hair, standing 5-foot-11, weighing 200 lbs.

He speaks English.

Anyone with information regarding his whereabouts can contact guns and gangs investigators at 613-236-1222, ext. 5050, or Crime Stoppers at 613-232-8477 (TIPS) or 1-800-222-8477.
