RBC Royal Bank is the new title sponsor of the Ottawa Bluesfest music festival for the next five years.
“It’s the most significant deal we’ve done in the history of the festival, in terms of sponsorship,” said executive director Mark Monahan. “This is really exciting for us.”
The announcement was made Friday at the Hard Rock Cafe, where local rock duo The Brothers Chaffey performed.
Bluesfest is the largest summer music festival in Ottawa, attracting thousands daily to Lebreton Flats for shows featuring musicians of all stripes from Canadian talent to major international blues, pop, rock and other stars.
Billboard Magazine ranked Bluesfest as one of the top 10 outdoor music festivals in the world.
“We’re proud to partner with one of North America’s premier music festivals and reaffirm our commitment to Ottawa from both a business and cultural perspective,” said RBC Royal Bank regional president Jeff Boyd. “I think Ottawa Bluesfest brings out the best in the city each summer.”
Cisco, which had been the title sponsor for 10 years, will remain a major sponsor and focus efforts on technology and innovation, Monahan said.
Next year’s event is set for July 4 to 15 and the line-up will be announced April 24.
