Five people were taken to hospital with bumps and bruises after a school bus was hit from behind by an SUV on Pinecrest Rd. Thursday afternoon.
The bus was carrying about 60 children from the Centre d’Education le Manege, a French day camp, and was heading southbound over Hwy. 417 just after 2:30 p.m.
Some of the kids were sleeping, Ottawa Paramedics Supt. Steven Leu said at the scene.
Four children — three girls and a boy — aged seven to nine were taken to CHEO with neck, back or shoulder pain.
A woman in her 20s was also taken to hospital with a mild concussion.
She’s a camp staff member who was standing up when the collision took place, said Leu, adding she complained of neck and back pain.
The kids were treated on the scene by paramedics and taken to CHEO as a precautionary measure, said Leu.
They’re all listed in stable condition.
The bus driver wasn’t injured.
Traffic was backed up for less than one hour and another bus picked up the remaining kids.
Ottawa police are investigating.
