Bored in an ice hut? Try these things

With 115 ice huts at Oziles’ on Petrie Island, weekends are packed with 300 to 400 people.

Since OPP have banned alcohol inside and outside the huts, will it hurt business?

“It’s only going to affect it a little bit ’cause I think a lot of people come for the social experience itself,” said Mathieu Beauchamp, Oziles’ supervisor.

“And drinking is a part of it but I think if everybody still comes, there’s a lot more things you can do other than drinking.”

Here’s a few ideas:

— boil water

— play cards

— have a contest to see who can make the best instant coffee

— read a book

— “find” yourself

— skate

— meditate

— count marshmallows

— order takeout from two places and bet on who has speedier delivery (loser pays for food)
