After much anticipation and disappointment last weekend, skaters can finally lace up on the canal.
The 41st season of skating on the world’s largest skating rink begins Saturday.
A 2.4 km section of the Rideau Canal Skateway opens at 8 a.m., from the Bank Street Bridge to the Pretoria Bridge.
The longest season on record was in 1971-72 when the canal was open for 90 days.
In 2001-02, just 26 skating days were available.
Last year, there were 36 days of skating.
