Friends mourning the death of 24-year-old Alex Zolpis will remember him as a loyal person with a huge heart, university buddy David Sklar told the Sun.
“He was always willing to do what he could to accommodate his friends, and was always there if you needed him,” he said.
Zolpis, who grew up in Ottawa, fell out of a rented pickup truck in a Byward Market parking garage around 3 a.m. Friday and became lodged underneath. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene
Police said the man behind the wheel of the truck had been drinking.
Zolpis’ best friend John “Jack” Tobin faces three charges in connection with his death.
But while Zolpis lived, he did so with zest.
Sklar and Zolpis met at Dalhousie University in 2006.
Describing him as “a really smart kid,” Sklar said he loved to have fun.
A Facebook account for Zolpis lists his interests as ‘Livin’ Life to the Fullest.’
“It didn’t matter what he was doing, he always had a smile on his face,” said Sklar.
“He was a well-mannered guy. Such a shame that he was taken from us at such a young age.”
